Course Description
Advise management on projects, manage and/or administrate projects from initiation to final closure, facilitate the project management process, execute feasibility studies, facilitate and execute detailed project planning and re-planning, execute and implement project quality assurance and control, optimise project resources, apply risk management, facilitate project procurement, administer and control project resources, implement project management principles, policies and procedures.

Project Manager, Project Planner, Project Leader, Team Leader, Project Coordinator, Project Consultant

Scope:

The BTech degree is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills that they will need in order to manage projects of any size. It covers general project management principles, and could include modules dealing with the following topics: entrepreneurship, project research, project accounting, project management process, operational research, project quality, project resources and strategic management. It will therefore provide students with a solid foundation in project management.

a. Admission requirement(s):

An applicable National Diploma or an equivalent qualification.

b. Selection criteria:

Admission is subject to selection by a panel interview.

c. Recommendation:

Preference will be given to applicants who are working in a project environment.

d. Minimum duration:

One year (the Department recommends that studies for this qualification take place over a period of two years).

e. Presentation:

Evening or block-mode classes (every second week over a period of eighteen months). Students must complete the qualification on the same offering type on which they were first admitted.

f. Intake for the qualification:

January only.
